More face painting photos!... again

Health And Safety

How do we ensure that our equipment is safe to use on all people? What the correct procedure to use when painting somebody's face? These are some of the questions we have asked ourselves to ensure we are carrying everything out properly.

Here's some text I wrote and edited for clarity here, so I can better explain how we cover ourselves.

  • Paints – Are the paints used suitable for people with sensitive skin or allergies? Yes they are. The paints owned by the charity (Aqua) have been very reliable, and have been used before several times. We were concerned that their age might be an issue, but we tested them on ourselves and they were fine. The paints we purchased on Amazon (Snazaroo) are very popular and used by many face painters. All the paints we use
  • Cleanliness – Equipment cleaned regularly and thoroughly. We try to wash our paintbrushes, paints and sponges after every session.
  • Explain to the client what you are doing – clear explanation, especially with children. Young children may feel unsure about what you are doing, as having paints put on their faces isn't natural. Keeping them informed about what you are doing helps keep the customer happy.
  • Give an idea of how long the procedure will take. Sometimes facepainting can take a while to do. Telling them how long it will take is a wise idea, especially for very impatient customers
  • I have recently attended first aid training, so I know how to spot an allergic reaction, among other things.
